This page contains information for photographers wishing to contribute their photos to the UK Butterflies stock photo library.

Policies

The UK Butterflies stock library operates according to the following policies:

The copyright of all photos will remain with the photographer at all times.
UK Butterflies will request that an appropriate copyright statement and acknowledgement is made to the photographer in question. However, this cannot be guaranteed, depending on the publication in question.
All photos will be made available to any registered charity free-of-charge. Examples include Butterfly Conservation, the Wildlife Trusts and English Nature.
All profits made through the UK Butterflies stock photo library will be donated to Butterfly Conservation at the end of each year. By "profits" we mean total sales made through the stock library, excluding the running costs of the UK Butterflies website (web hosting and data transfer costs).

Payment Options

There are essentially 2 payment options for photographers as listed below. All photographers should provide an indication of their preferred option when they first contribute their photos. Please note that, in all cases, profits will be donated to Butterfly Conservation.

UK Butterflies receives 100% of all sales.
UK Butterflies receives 25% of all sales, with 75% going to the photographer.

Contributing Guidelines

If you'd like to contribute your photos to the UK Butterflies Stock Photo Library then please take note of the following:

If you want your photos to be distributed without your intervention, then please send the highest resolution images you have (details below).
If you want interested parties to be redirected to you for high-resolution images, then please contribute images that are at least 800x800 pixels to the stock library, since this is the maximum size that will be displayed in the stock photo library.
Please use the file naming conventions given on the UK Butterflies Contributing page if possible.

Sending in Your Photos

If the total file size of your contribution is less than 20Mb, then please use email if you wish (pete@ukbutterflies.co.uk). Otherwise, please send a CD containing your high-resolution photos to:
